Founder & Principal
New business is a business science for Julia Vargiu. With more than 20 years’ experience in devising, building and implementing successful new business programs, Julia’s methodology has proven to consistently turn average agencies into successful new business winners. With two decades specialising in new business development, she has helped hundreds of agencies in the US, Australia and Asia.
Julia founded New Business Methodology in May 1998, two years after relocating to Sydney, with a broad background in marketing communications and advertising from her time in New York.
While in Manhattan, she spent 7 years specialising in new business development, working for the country’s first and largest agency new business consultancy (Lemont Consulting Group), New York’s premier public relations services company (Bacon’s Information) and the national leader in executive search for the marketing communications industries (Howard Sloan Koller). She was a guest speak at Columbia University’s and New
York University’s Graduate Schools of Journalism. In Australia, Julia was the first Marketing Manager for four of Sydney’s top agencies (Ammirati Puris Lintas, Foote Cone & Belding, TMP Worldwide and OMD) creating these roles through her initiative after having identified the unmet need in the market.
This depth of knowledge and over twenty years of data enables her to identify, score and improve an agency’s systems and effectiveness for generating profitable new clients.
Julia is a native of San Francisco, alumni of Aiglon Collége, Switzerland and prior to moving to New York, ran away with the gypsies to become an actress. She toured nationally for three years, specialising in improvisational street theatre for themed renaissance festivals around North America.
She’s been married 20 years to a handsome Australian chef, has been told she has a rather endearing son she travels the world with, and has developed a taste for fois gras, excellent coffee and high heels.
